3 Steps To Transition To Veganism

Trying to go vegan can be hard and seem really lonely.

I had the help of Youtube and blogs when I wanted to go vegan back in 2013. I was honestly terrified of it because I loved food and didn’t want to have to miss out on anything.

I didn’t fully understand what all vegan entailed and so I learned and learned and learned some more! Here are my top three steps I recommend to anyone looking to transition to veganism after I did ALL of the wrong things. Literally all of them.

  1. Start With One Meal

This is typically breakfast as it’s super easy to make vegan options at breakfast. I love toast, oatmeal, homemade granola bars, cinnamon rolls, hash, okay really any kind of breakfast.

  2. Cut Out What’s Easiest First

You don't have to start all at once or go cold tofurkey (see what I did there??). Simply starting with cutting out what’s easiest will help make the process smooth and simple. If it’s easiest to cut out red meat, chuck it. If it’s easier to cut out eggs, eliminate it. Cut out what’s really not even a part of your life and start there. THEN work your way up.

  3. Don’t Give Up

Okay, Alexis, this one is a no brainer. But it’s true. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to have setbacks. One time in Costa Rica I ate these chips for like 2 months that I loved and thought were some of the few vegan chips I could have. Come to find out, they had milk in them and I had been reading the package wrong the whole time. I was 2.5 years into veganism by then. Ugh. It’s totally okay to make mistakes and no one will ever be perfect. Just keep moving forward one day at a time!

Going vegan was the greatest thing I ever did for my health, the environment, and the animals. It has raised my level of consciousness to how I live my life more than I think anything else ever could have. I love being vegan and I’m here to help you fall in love with it too.

Take it one day, one meal, and one step at a time. You’ve got this!
